Lucid Dreams and Saturn Skies. Has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? I thought as much, at least. You might think there would be some sort of deep meaning behind the words; after all, they sound rather deep and artsy do they not? Maybe even a little pretentious?
Certainly, I’m fascinated by lucid dreaming. I’ve even managed to do it myself, now and then. And I love astronomy. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see the skies over Saturn? Alas, there is no surface on Saturn, and even if there were one, we’d be crushed as soon as we set foot out of our space ship (assuming the ship itself wasn’t crushed like a beer can on a drunken frat boy’s forehead.)
There is a real story behind the name. It wasn’t chosen because of some deep meaning. It wasn’t even unique to this site! I actually came up with it on an online dating site. The woman I was messaging said in her very long list of interests that she was interested in lucid dreaming and Saturn Sky (the car). So I sent her a message entitled “Lucid Dreams and Saturn Sky” because I thought it sounded cool.
When I went to name the site, the name jumped to mind. Of course, I misremembered it and put “Skies” instead of “Sky.” How utterly unremarkable right? I’d like to sit here and tell you there was more to the story. Like the woman who I sent the original message to responded; that we clicked, met, and are now engaged to be married. Alas, if I told you that, dear reader, it would be naught more than fiction.
Don’t get me wrong though, I love fiction. I write fiction – horror and fantasy – but I try to keep it real in my daily life. No, the real story is as unremarkable in its ending as it was in its beginning: I talked to the woman a bit and conversation fizzled to nothing. I don’t remember her name, and I’d be shocked if she remembered mine.
What’s this story have to do with the blog? Not much, other than setting the tone for the whole shebang that is. Lucid Dreams and Saturn Skies…an eclectic collection of writings on everything from the macabre to the mundane, from the sublime to the bizarre and everything in between. Words with deep meanings….or not. Words used to make art….hopefully devoid of pretension. Words that, hopefully at least, can bring a bit of happiness to the reader. I leave it to you, dear reader, to decide whether I’ve succeeded at depth, art, or in my bid to bring happiness.
Welcome to Lucid Dreams and Saturn Skies.
Post Schedule:
Monday – Mondays are review days. Mostly I review horror movies and horror books, but now and then I’ll throw in a nonfiction or fantasy book for a change of pace.
Wednesday – I like to refer to Wednesdays as “Whatever Wednesday.” This is the day I can indulge my taste for the eclectic. I’ll post whatever comes to mind. Usually it’s something in the more spiritual realm, where I’ll wax philosophical about a topic for 500 to 1000 words. It could be anything from writing to whatever happens to be going on in my life. I’m also thinking about tossing in a bit of science here and there (I’m a science major after all) or maybe some history. Don’t worry though…if I do, I’ll try to keep things interesting!
Friday – Fridays are, due to my love of alliteration, dubbed “Freaky Fridays.” Here I fire off on all cylinders, and show you all the weirdly wonderful side of our world. Anything is fair game – odd psychological illnesses, weird animals, psychopaths, ghost stories, mythology, folklore, or anything else you can think of.

I Love your site! It’s mysterious, intriguing and DREAMY…keep up the good work! Rima from Texas
